I was so thrilled to see Chesley Bonestell: A Brush with the Future take Best Documentary at Comic-Con—it’s a long-overdue recognition for the man who taught us all to see space as a place we might actually go. As someone who’s spent way too many late nights dialing in print settings, that win hit me on another level too, because lately I’ve been diving into 3d printable stl files over at Gambody just to hold a piece of that same visionary spirit in my hands. There’s a real through-line between Bonestell meticulously painting Saturn as seen from its moons and the care that goes into modeling game assets for printing; it’s all about making the impossible tangible.
